gmroadster-buscard-chicago-front150.jpgChicagoland Solstice and SKY Owners who want to make their club be a success... read on!

In the short time Chicagoland Roadsters has been active, more than one member has asked about getting more of "those cool cards." While I’ll admit they are cool indeed, it’s not just the card itself; it’s the idea behind it.

How about putting together a party? A BBQ? Hey it gets cold in the winter – but we need to have at least one holiday party. How about what I like to call a Meet & Eat? Where we drive to a restaurant then cruise afterwards – or just the opposite! There might be a group into modifying their Kappas, or even racing. If we can get enough people with enough interest we can really succeed.

If we can get many, many members and if we can interpret Chicagoland to include much of the Midwest, then we can be one, cool club. If we have a core of people who like to put together and participate in rides or runs, then that need is fulfilled.

In an effort to spread the word, I have placed Chicagoland Roadsters on various car club lists on the Internet. When reading about the various clubs I find the longest lived ones are those who DO things. Also they have the most people. One club was over 26 years old and had 119 active members!

gmroadster-buscard-chicago-back150.jpg So back to the cards... How best to use them? I see two immediate ways. First, carry a few with you at all times. Whenever you see a SKY or a Sol, approach the driver and talk to him/her about the club. If there is no one there or you don’t want to talk – wait until they are gone and slip one under their windshield wiper. Oh and please note there is the line that says "or contact me:" That is for you to put your phone number or email. If you do not want to do that – Please put This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . That way if they have any questions they can approach me. Second way to use the cards. Go to the dealer where you bought your car. Talk to your Sales person or better the Sales Manager. Perhaps they have a Customer Relations person that can help. The idea is to get the cards in their hands to be given to every new owner. I know if I was given one I’d have joined that night.

Now, the dealer may want to know more – If so send him to me (email is great, or my phone number). But try to sell the club to him. Tell him we are willing to work with dealers – perhaps they want a customer appreciation day or a fundraiser for a local charity – Would they like a built in Car show? Many of us might be willing to cook a few hot dogs or help in other ways, or better yet participate in some community services as a club. All we want is a chance!

So those are the two ways you can use the cards. If you come up with more – please let us all know!

Next – I’d like to let the club kind of coalesce for a bit before we organize into Officers and stuff. But we can’t go too long without order. Please give some thought on how many officers you would like and if you are willing to fill the shoes of any of the offices. In a week or so I will put a list of Offices I think we need – any additions or subtractions would be appreciated – then we will take nominations and elect them. I would like to wait until we have at least 20 members... But if we go slowly – we may have to elect sooner.

Thanks all!

PS. If you want cards, send me an email through the Contact Us form and well set up either an in-person or mail delivery.
