Got an E-mail the other day.... Does this sound interesting to anyone??
I wrote back asking for details:
" Good afternoon Rick,
Just wanted to drop you a quick note and see if you would ever consider bringing one of your Roadster car shows to Galena IL more specifically Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa.
Our location would be perfect with the very short, beautifully scenic drive from the Chicago area, our large FREE parking areas. I also think the resort atmosphere would be a great draw for your attendees and their families
I appreciate your time and any feedback you might be to provided on potential to hold an event at Eagle Ridge
Katie Graham
Sales Manager"
So, Does this sound interesting? We all loved Galena last year. It would be cool to see all those Kappas out in the lot at this place!

After a meeting with members that were able to join me with the nasty ice storm weather, we came to a few conclusions. I will list them as we go. First though I want to thank Shelly, and Keith as well as Greg and Mike for joining me.Each brought some great ideas and certainly helped me understand better whet many of yo may want. That said 5 of us represents only about 30% of the membership. So as I write this I know we need a bit more dialogue to "get it right."
Of the five that met Mike was the only one not a card carrying CLR member. I think he will be joining us very soon. After some slipping a sliding we met in my basement hideaway and some fun, frank discussions. Lets go over some of the points.

Hello once again to all Central IL Kappas and Honorary Central IL Kappas!!
It's been one heck of a busy summer! Since my last newsletter back at the end of May, we've gone to Starved Rock (much fun and good cookies!), some Bloomington/Normal Cruise Ins, SkyBaby's BBQ, Solstice Nationals, Door County, Twisting to the River, Tail of the Dragon, and Lake Geneva! And a bunch of other cruise nights and gatherings!!
Along the way, we've had some fender benders, a few speeding tickets including a failure to yield, 1 crime scene, some lost Sols and Skys, and I'm sure a few other things that I'm missing! What a summer it has been!! So I'll make this as short as possible. Lots of info for Bloomington and still a few big events out there and here we go:
Sept 8th - Bloomington/Normal, IL Cruise In - Kappas are the Feature Car for the night!! We've got 38 cars on the list so far and this will serve as your reminder! Contact me for more info and a schedule of events! (Sorry, it's not letting me attach a pdf file )
Sept 29-30th - Wisconsin Dells - Check the threads on the forums for this one! Should be a great one with almost 70 cars! Registration is due by Sept 8th! Rooms are booked at Bakers Resort, but there is availability near by!
Oct 6-7 - Cruise to the Woods, IA - Iowa's largest cruise. There are usually over 1000 cars cruising in North Central Iowa. I'm trying to light a fire under some Iowa Kappa butt, but I haven't had any luck!!
Nov 3rd - Twisting to the River Redeux, OH - This thing was a blast and we have a few going again! Running 555 both directions. This is 62 miles of crazy twisties! Even the veteran Dragon runners love, love, loved it!!!
No fun ads today, cause I've been busy working on the Bloomington stuff! I have some great dating stories to tell so as you can guess the Cookie Mama is still seeking the Sugar Daddy!! LOL!!!! Check all the various forums for updates and any events I missed. Also, feel free to contact me with any additons! I'll see most of you next Saturday!! Should be a gorgeous day!!
Safe and Happy Travels to All!!!

I have, in my possession, Decals for our Skys and Sostices. They look like the logo we are used to (the two cars nose to nose) with Chicagolandroadsters.com beneath. They are silver, so they will show against a dark background. I went ahead and OK'd 25 and I will send them to members who want for $5.00. However, I will have to add $1.00 for postage and stuff as mailing costs are tough -- so if you want one (or two, or nine) mail $5 each and $1 per order with a return address and I'll whip them right back..
They are 2 by 9 inches - very nicely done, easy to apply!

Now that we've had a chance to settle in a bit and we have all gotten over the GREAT run to Starved Rock, I thought I'd add a few ideas and see if we can't get things moving. Here are a few of my ideas - and if you want - we can move our discussions to a forum and whip the club into shape.
Since I love to ramble ('Cause I'm a ramblin' kinda guy...) I'll just write in in a line of consciousness and we can hack through it later.
We've got about 15 members and we need to make things a bit more formal.
I think we need a set of By-Laws and I also think we need to set up a "legal" club so we can have a bank account etc... Does anyone know how to do this and are they willing to do it or help out with doing it for CR? (that is my abbreviation for Chicagoland Roadsters).
Do we need officers? Or can we kind of interject that with "jobs". Here is what I mean. Should we have a President, VP and say a Treasurer Secretary, at most 4 people, along with a Website Editor, Newsletter Editor and someone to be the recruiter? Right now we need members and we need activity.
Here is my feeling - The President should also be the Chief Recruiter - all efforts to grow this club should come from that office. Rather than a true VP - I think the Website editor Is the one who will be responsible to make sure new, correct and updated info is published on the site. And in addition - needs to monitor and where needed moderate the forums.
The Secretary/Treasurer can be one person who with the President and VP keeps the books and as Secretary is in charge of the Newsletter. Also any in-person meetings etc - that person would post here, minutes of any meetings to keep the entire membership up to date.
How does that sound? Three offices:
#1. President/Recruiter/Spokesman
#2. Vice-President/Web Editor/Web Communications
#3 Secretary/Treasurer/Newsletter/Minutes and Club Business keeper and communications.

Chicagoland Solstice and SKY Owners who want to make their club be a success... read on!
In the short time Chicagoland Roadsters has been active, more than one member has asked about getting more of "those cool cards." While I’ll admit they are cool indeed, it’s not just the card itself; it’s the idea behind it.
How about putting together a party? A BBQ? Hey it gets cold in the
winter – but we need to have at least one holiday party. How about what
I like to call a Meet & Eat? Where we drive to a restaurant then
cruise afterwards – or just the opposite! There might be a group into
modifying their Kappas, or even racing. If we can get enough people
with enough interest we can really succeed.
